Do Your Mistakes Define You?

Do Your Mistakes Define You?

I’m not talking small mistakes like spilling milk.  I’m talking about serious mistakes.  The kind that can really hurt you or other people.

Usually these mistakes are better classified as bad choices.  I know this first hand.  I have made a few (or more) bad choices, but those choices have not made me.

I believe that every choice we make in life has an effect on us.

Even if it is a bad choice, we get to decide whether it affects us in a negative or positive way.

You can choose to let it break you down, or you can try to learn from it and move forward.

Mistakes are actions.  They are not personality traits.  They do not define who you are.

Yes, they are wrong, but they do not make you a bad person.  They give you an opportunity to grow and learn.

There is a song that says it perfectly.

“You are more than the choices that you make.  You are more than the sum of your past mistakes.  You are more than the problems you create.”
